2016 The Ditch Digger Red Blend
Paso Robles, Central Coast, California

95 points Vinous - "Inky, bright-rimmed ruby. Ripe, smoke-tinged raspberry, blueberry and floral pastille aromas show outstanding clarity, and a peppery element adds lively, spicy lift. Juicy and broad on the palate, offering densely packed yet lively red and blue fruit, candied lavender flavors and a hint of five-spice powder. Displays superb energy on a broad, seamless, strikingly long finish firmed by supple tannins and sharpened by a late jolt of juicy acidity."

95 points Wine Spectator - "A dynamic red, impeccably built, precise and expressive. Floral raspberry and crushed stone aromas open to layered black cherry, grilled herb and licorice flavors that build tension toward refined tannins. Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Counoise and Cinsault."

Producer notes: "50% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, 15% Syrah, 5% Counoise, 5% Cinsaut. Complex and mysterious aromas of black licorice, ripe strawberry, botanicals and Chinese five spice explode from the glass. A core of dense red fruit flavors, chocolate truffle, and guanciale mingle on the impressive palate. The finish is beautifully rich and textured while still surprisingly light on its feet.
